I'm not ready!

Monday I wore sandals to work. And a tank top under a jacket. Tuesday I was digging through a box in the basement for sweaters and boots.

Last night we put the heat on for the first time in months. And today there was snow on the ground (a dusting, but still), but I also saw vehicles with several inches of snow on them.

Let me point out the things that are different from this time last year:
- last year I didn't have a basement
- last year I didn't put away my winter clothes
- no snow this time last year (first one was on November 1)
- didn't commute to work last September (no job; just getting ready to move)

On the other hand, I was on the verge of having nowhere to live: our condo was sold and we hadn't taken possession of our new house.

One year ago today we saw all our possessions loaded onto a moving truck to come to Cochrane. When we went to pick Brett up from his last day at daycare, it turned out he had an ear infection. Poor, feverish baby was sitting limply in a teacher's lap, sucking a Mr. Freezie. His teacher was already sad because he was leaving, but to see him feeling so rotten made her cry. I do miss everyone there (Deee-ana, if you still read this: Brett still listens to the ABC CD you guys gave him, and the ABC puzzle is a regular component of the toy box), but Brett is happy in his current situation. And I have to admit, being with fewer kids, he hasn't had nearly as many colds or ear infections. Of course, that could be his age too.

At this age though, Brett should enjoy winter. As long as the snow is good for building stuff (and then pushing it over), he'll be fine. Now if only we can find his boots.... If I could have until at least November to look, I'd be happy.
